Underground 5 comics (3)
So I read five comics (Air Pirates, Dirty Duck, Little Green Dino, Mu: The Land that Never Was, and Hungry Chuck Biscuits) and in all honestly, I mostly picked these at random except for Air Pirates which I remembered from the History of Comics and was really interested so it was the for sure pick I was going to read. I have to say Air Pirates is wild but it really is something I see as an underground comic. The whole no self-censorship along with letting it all hang out attitude, it first came off as kinda a whiplash because you have Disney characters doing sexual acts to each other, cursing, violence, you name it but also it's kinda funny since we typically kind of associate Disney characters especially Mickey to be a pure kind of a character since the association with the movies and cartoons which the target audience is younger. I find the humor while obviously crude, pretty funny honestly. Between the other four while there were some similarities with bold sexual themes or misadventures there were actually some interesting differences like with Mu: The Land that Never Was, it was the most individual story structure which I thought was interesting, and some of the themes within the comic. Dirty Duck which some comics did appear in Air Pirates ( which kinda influenced my pick on this title) but I felt like this one compared to the other titles was not as intense as the other ones which is a nice change of pace from other typical underground comics. While there were adult content and themes I felt like it was approached in a more light-hearted way, I also really enjoyed the almost minimalistic style of the comic. Then with Little Green Dino, I thought I would get almost the same vibe as Dirty Duck when I started reading it and already don't judge a book by its cover (or I guess title in my case) I saw the style of a small cute dino character getting lifted by a demonic creature which threw me for a loop at the clash of styles but honestly was ok with me if anything it kinda reminded me of a graphic novel Bone. Little Green Dino definitely had the underground comics craziness but pretty comical at the same time. Then Hungry Chuck Biscuits was honestly my least favorite of the five comics, there was something about it I didn't really enjoy compared to the other comics honestly.
